I was a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives as a student and young professional, but then I let my membership lapse. I rejoined ACHE in 2020, and pursued the FACHE distinction for networking and career opportunities.
The book “Hardwiring Excellence” by Quint Studer from 2003 is still my favorite healthcare book, and has guided me and stuck with me each and every day of my career. I’ve learned that hard work, focus and dedication is what gets you where you want to be, but don’t let it consume you and take away from the joys of your family and friends. Barbara Bush’s quote on life is one I try to always remember – “At the end of your life, you will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent.”
