When I was a kid my Abuelo was the Supervisor for public housing in New York City. We would be walking down the street and he would be picking up, what I thought was, trash. Turned out he was building bikes for kids in the buildings, who otherwise would’ve never had the opportunity to have one. That’s what I want to ensure I do every day. I want to build bikes so everyone has one. I want to ensure healthcare is equitable, accessible and just, for everyone.
ACHE has provided me with the opportunity to hear the voices of others who are both like, and not like me. It has allowed me to gain perspective of other professions and professionals in healthcare I was not aware of, to be more compassionate of the struggles we all face, to make unwavering friendships, and to celebrate in the successes we have in providing better care for our communities.
